Independent Living

Independent Living can be a great option for seniors who want the benefits of not having to maintain a house, do yard work, cook, and those who have had to give up driving. Independent Living Communities typically offer three meals a day, no-maintenance fees, transportation to doctor’s offices and shopping as well as activities. Most communities offer washer and dryer facilities but you typically do your own laundry or hire a third party to help with it. Residents in most communities also have access to third parties and agencies to help with some activities of daily living such as bathing and dressing or medication reminders for those who have slightly more care needs. Many communities also offer pull cords or other emergency response systems. Most communities have someone available to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day. Loneliness can be a big problem as we age; Independent Living is a great way to provide much needed socialization even if no other care needs are present.
